Worship Leader Job Summary

We are seeking a confident worship leader who is a passionate follower of God and will invest in the mission of our church. This person will direct our worship team to lead the congregation into the heart of worship, and pioneer a music ministry at SMVC.

Part-time position – 10-15 hours per week

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate all music ministries of SMVC

Facilitates and leads worship on Sunday mornings and for special services

Recruits, develops and empowers worship team members and worship leaders

Provides training for worship team members and A/V team members

Works with the Lead Pastor and Staff in planning and affecting a relevant and timely worship service

Schedules worship teams and leaders as needed for other gatherings

Manages SMVC music equipment

Establishes and seeks approval for the worship budget. Manages worship budget expenses

Well organized, able to maintain monthly schedules for the worship teams, sound board and computer volunteers

Able to provide qualified leadership when absent from Sunday services

Plans and leads additional holiday services and occasional worship events

Creates and schedules a worship rehearsal routine

Confirms the worship team members each week whether it be instrumentalist, vocalist, sound board or computer

Oversees the maintenance of the sound system, the computers used for worship services, other equipment used for worship, and the music library of the church

Makes recommendations for upgrading equipment and electronics used in Worship

Develops relationships with other Vineyard Worship leaders

Stays current on national worship trends in the Vineyard

Demonstrates solid time management skills and organizational abilities
Demonstrates ability to recruit, train, empower, mobilize, nurture, and monitor volunteers
Skilled and gifted as an instrumentalist/vocalist to lead the congregation in relevant contemporary worship

Education and/or Experience
Degree in music or qualifying music leadership experience
Experience with audio/sound or media helpful
